Across Europe alarms ringing about the appearance of a new Ómicron variant and in Portugal we have been witnessing a sharp rise in the number of new covid-19 cases for some weeks now.

Dentistry, due to its high level of exposure to substances susceptible to cross-infection by its professionals, has, over the years, become increasingly demanding with regard to health and safety at work.

The emergence of covid-19 and its successive variants was no exception. Clínica Dentária do Norte quickly adapted in 2019 and is scrupulously complying with all the protocols implemented by the DGS (General Directorate of Health), guaranteeing at the same time the quality that has been with them for several years.

Therefore, we highlight some of the measures of the Clinic, specially developed regarding the period we are going through, with the objective of guaranteeing the biosafety of the clinical space:

– Installation of air extractors (instead of the ordinary Air Conditioning, which recycles the air, putting the contaminated air back into circulation).

– Clinical atmosphere decontamination spray.

– Screening prior to the consultation (through remote contact) with the aim of investigating and controlling possible symptoms associated with COVID-19.

– Consultations with extended time and only by appointment, in order to have a greater control of the propagation vectors, as well as sufficient time for the disinfection of surfaces and atmosphere between patients.

– Use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by the entire team.

– Protection of surfaces/materials exposed to manual contact.

– Avoiding the presence of companions;

– Oral disinfection at the beginning of the consultation, using a mouthwash with a disinfectant solution.
